Carrying on today (see what I did there?) with my series of posts about packing + pouches + bags. I'm tackling it on a larger scale and talking about suitcases. I had the same large suitcase for about four years until back in January when I literally wore it out. It was kind of embarrassing that I'd let it get in such a run down condition but I definitely can say I got my money's worth out of that suitcase. Because they're definitely an investment if you want a good one.
Luckily I had purchased a new one over Christmas on a deal site that my mom sent me and so my shiny new replacement is sitting here ready to be taken somewhere wonderful (and hopefully warm.) Here's a look at what suitcases and bags that I recommend investing in:
One: Travelpro Crew 10 29" Expandable Spinner - this is the beautiful suitcase that came home to me. I was lucky to get it at a deal because it's a bit more on the spendy side but equipped with all the details that are going to be best for an avid traveler. One thing to note is that on a big suitcase like this, wheels that spin 360* are a requirement for me. It will make life so much easier.
Two: Travelpro Maxlite3 29" Expandable Spinner - this is a similar version of the suitcase above but half the price and without all the bells + whistles.
Three: Travelpro Maxlite3 International Carry-on Spinner - here's the small carry-on version of the Travelpro. I like that the top is expandable and you can stuff lots of things inside (which I tend to do when I carry-on!) This one also has the wheels that spin 360* - woohoo!
The Travelpro suitcases linked above all ship from Amazon for free with Amazon Prime. God bless Prime, amirite.
Four: Everlane Twill Weekender - I really love the look of these, smooth + clean. You can't be the price either (under $100!) even through the bag looks expensive.
Five: Everlane Twill Backpack - this backpack comes in some great colors and definitely beats out the pink Lands End backpack I had as a kid. I like that it opens at the top but has the flap over top, making it harder for things to fall out or people to get into who shouldn't be.
Six: Kate Spade Saturday Weekender Bag (40% off right now with code EXTRA40) - how cute is this little bag, it's just the right size for a weekend getaway! I love that the bottom unzips so you can store your shoes down there without having to pack them in with your clean clothes.
There's a smaller version right here and a version that comes in this fun print, but I think the larger one is good especially if you're packing a couple pairs of shoes. Also worth noting, at KS Saturday you can customize + create your own weekender bag in both sizes. Love their designs and prints.
Seven: Kate Spade Saturday Buckle Duffle (40% off right now with code EXTRA40) - I feel like this duffle is something Lauren Bacall or Katherine Hepburn would carry in an old black + white movie. Just looks so classic + stylish.
Eight: Proper Assemly No. 2 Duffle Bag - I recently met Nathan, one of the co-founders of this brand and absolutely love what he's doing. It's a Brooklyn based company and I can see it growing at lightning speed. The microstripe duffle design here looks so hip + cool.
I'd love to hear any suggestions you have for your favorite luggage, suitcases, and bags - share 'em if you got 'em! Here's my post on packing in pouches and the smaller things I put in the bigger bags.
