It's funny seeing that almost exactly four years ago, I blogged about how I dream about moving to Portland. Last week I packed up and moved all the way across the country, making that dream come true. To be honest, for a while my heart had been set on moving back to NYC. But after spending time looking at apartments in Brooklyn my head told my heart that we should be more financially responsible, we needed more space, and we saw many other signs that it just was not the right time.
So here we all are. Heart, head, brain that is still functioning in PST - living in Portland. I moved into a lofty apartment in The Pearl district. It is probably the most unPortlandlike neighborhood ever and often feels a bit like NYC to me. Except I've got a beautiful view of pine trees and on a clear day I can see Mt. Hood from my balcony. So far, so good.
I turned another year older today (Monday) in my new home. Last year was probably the most challenging but undeniably my absolute favorite year of life. I'm ready to blow last year out of the water. Andiamo!
