Yesterday I talked about deciding to go 6x12 with my Project Life album this year and here's a peek at how that size looks. Again, I'm using an American Crafts Modern Album like I have in the past for all my 12x12 pages but will eventually get out some power tools (aka an exacto knife) and cut it down to fit 6x12.
When I started this, what I realized was that basically using two 6x12 pages for one week = a natural Design A 12x12 page that people typically use. Why didn't I just make it easy on myself and do one 12x12 spread per week (like I did back in 2012?) Then I started laying it out and had some photos printed in the 6x12 size and absolutely loved it. It's something new and a challenge for me. I did think about going to a 9x12 album like so many are doing this year, but I just couldn't wrap my brain around it. I'm weird. (Edited: 6x12 Design H page protectors are in stock at Amazon here.)
Week one is a merging of those first three days in January plus the first full week. I went to Nashville, then Anaheim for CHA. This is a lot about photos, there's no real fillers in here. I'm liking it so far, but we'll see if I can get used to not having a designated place for all the extra little life things.
The second week of the month I was still at CHA for a day then left for Portland. At the end of the week I left for Miami so it was quite tricky to figure out how to get all those locations in one spread. I decided to just concentrate on some favorite photos from Portland (the rest will go into a mini album) and I especially love the 6x12 print here.
Like I did with my 2014 album, the date will go onto a photo of myself from that week. It is the Kelly show around here. I used my new Clearly Kelly Scored Tabs stamp set to create the labels for each week.
I didn't take that many photos in Miami but ended up putting the Instax ones into a vellum bag then punching holes in it so it could be included in the album. I added a little tab from my Clearly Kelly Scored Tabs set.
The labels on these spreads come from my Clearly Kelly Documented set, which is a Stamp + Cut. It's a cool 3x4 stamp set that comes with the dies to cut them out. The tabs are perforated so you can fold them over and attach them onto edges. Perfect. The days of the week bar come from the Clearly Kelly Take Note set and the date stamp I'm using for each week is the Becky Higgins Project Life roller stamp.
Since I wasn't home to print photos on my own printer, I had them done through Persnickety Prints. They did an awesome job on the 6x12 and I realized it's really cheap to place two together onto a 12x12 in Photoshop then have it printed at Persnickety.
That's the beginning of my 2015 album. I'm hoping the smaller size will help me keep up with it more easily - don't you love the positivity that comes with the new year! Ha. Let's do this, 6x12. We're in it together.
