I'm happy to be sharing another project with you today in collaboration with Canon USA. It's time to put all those travel pictures you've been snapping to work to create photo envelopes. I absolutely love to get snail mail and still send cards + postcards to friends on a regular basis. Nothing beats a handwritten note and it's fun to take it just one step further by making a custom envelope to send it off in.
I chose three different sets of travel themed photos, with one main photo for the outside and one detail shot for the inside envelope liner.
The photos were printed on my Canon PIXMA MG7120 printer in full color onto 8.5x11 paper. I downloaded an envelope template to trace onto the outside photo then trimmed it out.
Once I had my outside photo cut, I found it was easiest to adhere my inside photo to the backside and trim off the excess with a small pair of scissors. If you're printing on photo paper like I did, a good tip is to also use a bone folder to help score the edges so your creases are nice and tight.
I like the little surprise of the photo as a liner inside the envelope too. For my Hotel envelope, I used photos taken at the ACE in Portland, then a picture taken in the lobby of photostrips my friend Barb + I took there. It's a great way to send a greeting to her and an easy way to say thanks for the memories.
I finished up my envelopes with little bits of washi tape to seal the backsides and different labels or more tape on the front. You can really customize them with products out of your stash so easily. I hope you're inspired to use your photos and printer to send some happy mail. Hope you'll send some my way!
