2013 Project Life Update: November + Ending the Year

Last night I worked on getting the month of November into my Project Life album and decided that 2013 is now officially in the books. Barb + my Portland trip was a huge event in the month, but I want to put that into a separate mini album. There are many things that I never got caught up on (the entire month of February, btw) or wanted to include but forgot to. I just don't have it in me to go back and add things in... I'd much rather think about wrapping up my December Daily and moving forward.

I tried to make it fast + furious so I kept it simple by just using the Studio Calico Printshop 6x6 pad and some KP stamps. Here are my November spreads:

This is like two weeks condensed into six pockets, but I'm totally ok with that. I got in the photos + screenshot I wanted. Good stuff documented, that's all that matters.

I used my The Adventure Begins die to cut the 3x4 card and layered it with paper from the Printshop pad. Love the look of the stripes peeking behind.

Ann-Marie had Insta'd Pike Street Press so I knew I had to check it out. The letterpress postcard was so cool that I bought two. Added one into my album with Attach-Me stickers and the other is hanging on the wall in my office.

The journaling on that card is a quote I found on Tumblr that says "You'll need coffee shops and sunsets and road trips. Airplanes and passports and new songs and old songs, but people more than anything else. You will need other people and you will need to be that other person to someone else, a living breathing screaming invitation to believe better things." I had texted it to Barb + Katrina, my constant touchstones, who both texted back AGREE.

Thanksgiving day spread, complete with two screenshots of Snapchats. I love Snapchat, I do I do I do.

And so that wraps up 2013. I am defintely doing Project Life for 2014 but I still haven't figured out in what format. I love the smaller Sn@p albums (and especially adore my January album as I was saying goodbye to NYC here + here + here) but I am someone who likes change. I'm thinking I'm going to tackle the 12x12 size again and possibly only a Becky Higgins core kit. I'd like it to be a bit more cohesive. What are you planning on using for next year?

2013 Project Life: Beginning October

I'm a little behind but I started adding the month of October into my Project Life album. Here we go...

I used my October + November kit heavily. You can still purchase the Good Morning Sunshine stickers from the kit along with the Be Happy stickers. I also used the calendar die layered with paper from the kit. I know the die is going to be great for when I start my December Daily!

Last week I ordered all the new Wendy Vecchi Archival Inks from Simon and they are PERFECT for fall colors. I used Orange Blossom + Fern Green heavily in these spreads.

The cute "I'm Bringing Cozy Back" and "Loving/Enjoying Currents" cards came from my friend Tina's printable files. They are just too awesome.

Lot of stamping using the stamp set from the kit, it's one of my favorites. I added just a small embellishment of the date stamp onto the large photo with Brilliance White ink. Stamps so cleanly.

I had a question on Facebook about how I print my photos so I thought I'd include it in this post. About 95% of my photos get printed at home. being able to print whatever I need to, whenever I need to, at whatever size I need to is important to me (I'm not good at planning ahead.)

I use the Epson Artisan XP850 - it's a fantastic all in one printer. There is a slot for 4x6 size paper, which is a requirement for me with Project Life. It's also compact and doesn't take up much space at all. I use the printer in combination with Costco's Kirkland professional glossy photo paper. A pack of this is cheap and I like the finish on it. It is the perfect paper for stamping on.

Also I recently bought a Selphy CP900 on Amazon after seeing Amy use it. So easy. I like that it's wireless and I can simply print from my iPhone or iPad. Bascially, it's awesome.

When I do order prints, I use Persnickety Prints. They did a huge enlargement for me which turned out amazing and hangs in my living room. I've always meant to share the enlarged prints they did for me because the quality was fantastic. Highly recommend.

2013 Project Life: Sailing in Seattle + Simple Stories Album Giveaway

I love when photos and supplies come together perfectly, it makes creating something extra fun for me. When I was working on putting these photos from our sail into my Project Life, I was really having a good old time playing around with stamps and supplies.

One of my favorite KP sets is the Ahoy one - the sentiments get used often on different projects. But now, it was just too perfect to put that ship stamp into my spread. There's the boat and we're just sailing away into the sunset...

I also used the Lumberjack Carl letters for the title and layered them over top of the chevron die. The Uncharted Waters line from Glitz Girls is still one of my favorites.

I had two Instax photos from the day that I wanted to include, so I just cut out one little pocket from a Sn@p page protector and added that in. The Instax photos were just slipped in there so I can pull them out later if I want. My Oliver puppy themed stamps came in good handy for these pictures.

Also, I wanted to mention that this is going into one of the new Simple Stories Sn@p faux leather albums. I love how it feels and the solid black on the outside is super nice. I'm thinking about doing all black leather for next year, they'll look great sitting next to each other on the shelves. These will also be great for a December Daily album!

Project Life Update: The Walrus + The Carpenter

For my first meal in Seattle last month, Joe took me to The Walrus and The Carpenter. I was so excited because this was on my bucket list thanks to Bon Appetit's list of 20 Most Important Restaurants in America. The night was a dream. It's a tiny little place with a tiny little open kitchen that the bar wraps right around. And the dishes coming out of there deliver huge on flavor. We had the best oysters I've ever eaten in my life. So good that we had to order a second round. Everything just made me smile. I can't wait to make another trip for more.

I saved the menu and of course it went into my Project Life album:

I added it in using the Basic Grey Attach-Me stickers. The Foodie stamp set was perfect for adding some journaling to layer onto the menu. I just paperclipped it on there so I'd always be able to look back at the full menu. These are the best. I also used quite a few of my new gold Be Happy label stickers on the spread as well.

A little look at a new Kelly Purkey die - Eat Drink and Be Merry. I layered it with more papers from my Oct + Nov Project Kit (Persimmon paper pad still available.) Again, I just love these colors for fall!

For October, I'm thinking of switching it up and going the month in the 12x12 format. Just to keep things spicy. Have you done both sizes? Which do you prefer?

2013 Project Life: 10.4.13 Update + All Ready Memories

I've got a little Project Life spread to share using my October + November Project Kit. I love the autumn colors in the kit but also wanted to show that it doesn't have to be all oranges and yellows. Here I've focused on using the blues in the kit:

The photos are from a Miami trip a couple weeks ago and I pulled out the light blue and navy papers from the kit. I used the exclusive stamp set along with my Howdy Partner stamp set. Inks are Ranger Archival Teal and Cobalt.

These Cosmo Cricket wood veneers... I love them. And there are a million little stars in the kit. I just want to put them on everything. I also used my new Happy Camper die. Seemed appropriate. Have you started using your October + November kit yet? Be sure to link me up if you have!

I also wanted to share a cool item from All Ready Memories. They make these great wood accessories for organization. Project Life card boxes and washi tape holders. The wood is unfinished so you can leave them plain or decorate however you'd like. With my box, I added gesso combined with the Heidi Swapp Doily Stencil. And then I spray painted it gold, which might be my favorite new thing:
