A List of Thirty: Favorite Things to Eat in NYC

Since you've been generous in sharing so much with me about thirty – I thought I'd share some thirty things with you this week leading up to my birthday.  And so I'll start with one of the most asked questions I get… where to eat in New York City.  Here's what I recommend, I hope you enjoy.

EatMaking this list was interesting… I've eaten in some of the city's best restaurants and the things that came to mind were mostly inexpensive and accesible places to go.  My favorites are things that I can eat over + over again.  I gues the pricier meals were about the experience, the cheap meals are about being satisfied.

1. Cheeseburgers at Shake Shack
2. Spaghetti at Scarpetta
3. Lobster + burrata salad at Marea
4. Biscuits with strawberry butter at Good Enough to Eat
5. Salty Pimps at Big Gay Ice Cream
6. Classic Ramen with an egg at Ippudo
7. Artichoke pizza at Artichoke Basille
8. Vanilla cupcakes with buttercream frosting at Molly's
9. Meatballs with mushroom gravy at The Meatball Shop
10. The burger at Resto
11. The burger at The Spotted Pig
12. The lamb  burger at The Breslin
13. Buffalo mac 'n cheese at Smack
14. Pizza at Motorino
15. Pork buns at Momofuku Noodle Bar
16. Pork buns at Ippudo
17. Deconstructed cheesecake at The Modern (bar room)
18. Steak tartare at Quality Meats
19. Compost cookies at Momofuku Milk Bar
20. Lobster sandwiches at The Mermaid Inn
21. Poutine at Pomme Frites
22. The pork chop at Republic
23. Pasta with Funghi Trifolati at Babbo
24. Chocolate chip walnut cookies at Levain
25. Buffalo wings at Blondie's
26. Cupcakes at Sweet Revenge
27. Cheese + prosciutto at Eataly

Saving your list as I hope to be back in NY in January 2013.
Was there for first visit in 2011, January, froze my butt off, but loved it!
Plan to stay one or two days longer. See more shows on Broadway, eat more food (thanks for the list), and just see more of everything…

When I was there the one place on my hit list was Elaine’s. There are references to it in all the Stuart Woods Stone Barrington series books, so had to see it for myself. Was so happy I did and even met Elaine while I was there.

Hi, I would love to see a list of rooftop bars to visit someday if it’s something you’re interesting in posting… some are only open to hotel or members, however I’m always looking for a rooftop bar to hang out on for happy hour or dinner/drinks.
